Currently, most user-generated content sites are focusing on the content, and not as much on the people behind the content.

With interest in user-generated content so high, we’re starting to see users’ interest in the people behind the scenes creating the content increase.

Fox’s “On The Lot” - the reality show to find the “next big director” - is an example of this trend.

The first episode was pretty interesting in that viewers could start to learn more about the people behind the scenes. The episode didn’t go into too much detail on people’s backgrounds other than where the person was from and some minor tidbits, but viewers could get a glimpse of the aspiring directors behavior and personality - or atleast the behavior and personality coming through the editing. As the series goes on, I imagine the show will dive deeper into the contestants’ backgrounds.

One of the goals of UgcDb.com is to help users’ learn more about the people behind the scenes of user-generated content and see what other content the person created.

The information is pretty interesting - for example - reading about the improv troupes a person was part of, or the schools they went to, or other experiences they’ve had. It’s pretty interesting seeing the different types of content a person has created too - some of the people have multiple accounts on photo, video, and blog sites.

Check out the site, read some bios, and search around - it’s definitely interesting!
