Why should I register?
Registering allows you to:
- Submit people and content to the ugcDb database
- Rate and comment on the people and content
- Post messages to the community message boards and blog
As a registered member, you get to take part in all the community features - for a fuller experience.
How do I edit content?
First, you need to be a registered user.
Once you are registered, you can add accounts, people and content following the instructions below in the help section.
During the initial launch period, we're limiting the ability to add and edit content directly. Some changes may be reviewed by an editor prior to showing up publicly in ugcdb - usually within a few hours of submitting.
What's the difference between a person, actor, and content creator?
- Everyone in the database is listed under the "people" category.
- "Actors" are people associated with content items, videos, photos, blogs, or other content. They can be traditional "actors" in a video or others behind the scenes such as directors and screenwriters.
- Content creators are those people who have an account on a user generated content site, such as a Youtube account owner or a flickr account owner.
Are there tools to make it easier to upload content?
Currently, there is a tool to make it easier to list a Youtube user's videos in ugcDb.com. After adding a person with a Youtube account, there's an option to import their video listings.
We are working on additional tools to make it easier to import content directly from other source sites as well.
Add an Actor / Credit
To add an actor or anyone else associated with a piece of content, first use the Submit Person Form to enter the person.
To add a credit to an existing piece of content in ugcDb, navigate to the content and select the "edit content" link. Next click the "Edit Credits for this content" link that appears on the next page. A form will appear to allow you to add people and credits to the content. Remember, the person must already be in ugcDb.com.
If the content does not already exist in ugcDb, use the Submit content form to first add the content. After the content is added, click the "Add credits to the this content" link. A form will appear to allow you to add people and credits to the content. Remember, the person must already be in ugcDb.com.
Add a Creator / Account Owner
To add a content creator, use the Submit Person Form to enter the person and list the accounts the person owns in the form.
If the person already exists in UgcDb, select the edit link on the person page to add the additional account information.
Add an Account
To add an account to an existing person, select the "edit" link on the Person page and enter the account in the form.
Add a Role/Credit to an Existing Person
If the content already exists in ugcDb, select the "edit content" link on the content detail page. Next click the "Edit Credits for this content" link that appears on the next page. A form will appear to allow you to add people and credits to the content. Remember, the person must already be in ugcDb.com.

If the person does not already exist in ugcDb, use the Submit person form to first add the person. After the person is added, follow the instructions above to edit the content and edit the credit information.
Add a Video, Photo, Blog or other Content
To add a content item, use the Submit Content Form.
There is incorrect information in the database
Registered users can use edit forms to submit updated information. First, you need to be a registered user.
On the person profile page or content detail page, select the "edit" links to make changes. Some changes may be reviewed by an editor prior to showing up publicly in ugcDb - usually within a few hours of submitting.
Alternatively, you can send us a note using the contact form to let us know of any incorrect information.
Fix an account that is mapped to the wrong person
Select the "edit link" on the person and update or remove the account information.
Delete accounts, people, or content
To delete an account, person, or piece of content, send a note to us using the contact form. Please explain the reason for deleting the person or item.
Add a Comment
To add a comment to a person, content item, or account, you must be a logged in, registered user. Navigate to the item you wish to comment on, and click the "add comment" link.
Rate a Person or item
To rate a person, content item, or account, you must be a logged in, registered user. Navigate to the item you wish to comment on, and select the star rating for the item.
Actor
Actors are people associated with content items, videos, photos, blogs, or other content. They can be traditional "actors" in a video or others behind the scenes such as directors and screenwriters.
Creator
Content creators are those people who have an account on a user generated content site, such as a Youtube account owner or flickr account owner.
Account
An account is an account or profile on a user generated content site - for instance a Youtube account or a flickr account.
